Let's take on the challenge. When you invest in the dreams and talents of Spelman students, you empower young women who are exceptionally worthy of support. Of the students currently enrolled at Spelman, 40 percent are Pell-grant eligible, more than any other highly selective liberal arts college. The income of eligible families is typically $45,000 or less, and a low-income student who receives a maximum Pell grant and maximum federal student loan may still need $15,000 or more in loans to cover her college costs — loans that can be difficult or impossible to obtain.
