ExxonMobil Helps Spelman Increase Female Engineers
With $1 Million Grant

The ExxonMobil Foundation awarded a $1 million grant to Spelman College to provide scholarships through the Women in Science and Engineering Scholars program to help facilitate the recruitment, retention and graduation of Black females pursuing degrees in chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science. Spelman College Celebrates 15-Year Partnership
With The UPS Foundation

Spelman College is celebrating a 15-year partnership with The UPS Foundation after receiving a gift of $50,000 to continue The UPS Community Service Scholarship Program at the College. Walmart Launches Leadership Program
for First-Year, First-Generation Students

With a generous $87,000 gift, the Walmart Foundation launched the Walmart Leadership Scholars Program, which is designed to develop high-quality leadership skills for Spelman’s first-year and first-generation students. Participants attend leadership training and speaker programs, participate in community service projects, complete leadership assessments, and actively engage in peer-mentor exchanges. Read more >

The Home Depot Gift Energizes Green Campus Support

Spelman College received an $85,000 gift from The Home Depot Foundation in support of the Albro-Falconer-Manley Science Center Energy and Water Efficiency Project.  The gift highlights the foundation’s commitment to help implement one of the College’s foundational priorities — strengthening the campus infrastructure and learning environment by creating a “green” campus. Fulton County Arts Council
FCAC Grants Support Museum of Fine Art

Since opening its doors in 1996, the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art has benefitted immeasurably from more than $200,000 in support from the Fulton County Arts Council.  FCAC’s contributions allow the country’s only museum dedicated to emphasizing works by and about women of the African Diaspora to offset expenses such as loan and installation fees, consulting services, and fine art shipping. Title III
Title III Funds Comprehensive Writing Program's Wish List

Spelman’s Comprehensive Writing Program is benefitting technologically through support allocated from a College-wide, five-year, Title III grant.  The funding has resulted in an expansion of the peer-writing tutor training to include greater use of technology and research; and 500 hard copy portfolios from first-year students were digitized. 10 Alumnae
10 Alumnae to Give $100,000 to the Women's Center

Spelman College trustee Celeste Watkins-Hayes, Ph.D., C’96, launched the “10 at 10” project, challenging 10 of her classmates to give $10,000 each to support an initiative to build an endowment for the Women’s Research and Resource Center at Spelman College. The collective $100,000 gift contributes to the match required by the $1 million challenge grant awarded to the Women’s Center by the Ford Foundation in 2008. Read more >
