Scholarships
Spelman's ability to continue to attract the most talented young women is directly related to its ability to compete with other top liberal arts colleges in providing scholarships and financial assistance. Our ability to meet students' financial needs over the course of their undergraduate careers is of paramount importance.

Support for Millennial Teaching and Learning
In order to help our outstanding faculty stay at the forefront of their disciplines, and to be more effective in the classroom, funding is needed to support their research, professional development, training, travel and focused study.

Millennial Faculty Fellows

· Endowed fellowships start at $50,000 and can be designated to specific fields/areas
  of study

· Current use/annual fellowships start at $10,000 (a minimum three-year funding

Endowed Professorships $3M and Above
Spelman College's remarkable and dedicated faculty is the College's greatest asset and the students' greatest resource. To continue to recruit and retain top professors, Spelman must increase the number of endowed professorships. Creating more endowed professorships will allow for greater flexibility in the use of existing funds for faculty positions, as well as support academic expansion in ways that move the College to even higher levels of achievement and contribution to society.

Experiential Learning Funds

Student Global Experiences
Our goal is that every Spelman student will graduate having had a meaningful global travel experience connected to their area of study, leadership development, and/or service-learning goals. Most of our students cannot afford to pay for such experiences independently. Students will participate in a range of travel experiences, including short-term travel opportunities, semester-long study abroad programs, international internships, service-learning/volunteer projects, and conference participation.

· Endowed funds start at $50,000 and may be designated to support students in
  specific areas of study

· Named, current use/annual funds start at $5,000 (minimum three-year funding
  commitment preferred)

· General support for global initiatives starts at $1,000 (five-year commitment
  preferred)

Student Research or Career-Related Internships
Research, capstone academic projects, and/or career-related internships are critical to student outcomes, and our deserving students must have greater opportunity to pursue these endeavors. Funding is needed for research/lab materials and equipment, student research stipends, travel funds to present research at conferences, and travel support/stipends for students whose internship opportunities are unpaid or do not include housing.

· Endowed funds start at $50,000 and may be designated to support students in
  specific areas of study

· Named, current use/annual funds start at $5,000 (minimum three-year funding
  commitment preferred)

· Support for student research and career experiences starts at $1,000
  (five-year commitment preferred)

Leadership Development and Service Learning
Spelman offers philanthropists the opportunity to cultivate leadership both College-wide and one student at a time. Donors will engage in capacity building: of individual students, of Spelman College as a catalyst for change through leadership and service, and in public, private, and community sectors where our graduates lead, especially in business/finance, education, environment and health/medicine. Gift opportunities range from support for our Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement to sponsoring student leadership development activities, such as case study applications, leader-shadow experiences, and reflective self-evaluation.

· Endowed leadership development funds start at $50,000

· Current use/annual leadership development funds start at $10,000
